// The setup
The vision for the Mr. Mohata Residence was to create a contemporary family home that would feel both distinctive and comfortable. The family desired a residence that reflected modern aspirations while remaining practical for everyday living.
The site offered an opportunity to create a strong architectural identity, but the challenge was to balance bold visual expression with privacy, climate responsiveness, and long-term functionality. The design needed to welcome natural light, encourage ventilation, and provide generous outdoor connections without compromising comfort.
Rather than creating a house that simply occupied the plot, the intention was to create a living environment where architecture, landscape, and daily life could exist as one experience.
// The work
The design evolved around a composition of clean geometric volumes and dramatic sloping roof forms that establish the home’s character from the street.
Natural stone, warm timber finishes, textured surfaces, and dark architectural accents were carefully layered to create depth and richness while maintaining a timeless appearance. Large balconies, shaded terraces, and glass edges were introduced to blur the boundary between interior and exterior spaces.
The planning focused on clarity and openness. Living spaces were positioned to maximize daylight and ventilation, while architectural screens and recessed zones provided privacy where needed. Landscape elements, water features, and integrated planting were used not as decoration but as architectural components that enhance the overall experience of the residence.
Every design decision was evaluated through the lens of how the family would experience the spaces daily—moving through them, gathering together, relaxing outdoors, and adapting the home over time.
// The outcome
The result is a residence that combines contemporary architecture with human comfort.
The bold roof forms create a memorable visual identity, while the carefully crafted material palette gives the home warmth and sophistication. Natural light, ventilation, landscape, and water elements work together to create an environment that feels calm, open, and connected to nature.
More importantly, the house performs beyond its appearance. It supports everyday family life, provides comfortable indoor and outdoor living spaces, and offers a timeless architectural character that will remain relevant for years to come.
The Mr. Mohata Residence demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform a house into a meaningful place—one that is not only admired from the outside but genuinely enjoyed from within.
