A house designed around light air and family. A climate-responsive residence designed around light, air, and family life. Created for three generations living together, the project uses a central skylight, skywalk, and connected green spaces to bring openness, daylight, and visual connectivity into the heart of the home.
// The setup
The primary challenge was to create a naturally lit and ventilated home for three generations living together on an urban plot while balancing privacy, openness, guest accommodation, and budget constraints.
Instead of treating these constraints as limitations, they became opportunities to rethink how light, air, and family interaction could shape the architecture.
// The work
Natural light became one of the most important design drivers of the project. Large portions of the house were located away from external walls, making conventional window placement insufficient for bringing daylight deep into the interior.
To address this challenge, a central skylight was introduced above a glass skywalk connecting different levels of the house.
The skylight captures daylight from above and distributes it through the heart of the home. The glass skywalk allows light to travel further downward while maintaining visual connections between family members on different floors.
// The outcome
A key objective was to ensure the house felt larger than its physical footprint. Rather than dividing spaces into isolated rooms, visual connections were carefully created between levels and common areas.
The skywalk not only serves as circulation but also becomes a spatial device that visually links different parts of the home, strengthening interaction among family members while preserving individual privacy.
